External Haemorrhoid Surgery Overview
There are many things that are responsible for causing haemorrhoids. Anything that puts pressure on the rectal/anal area can cause them and these include hard stools, constipation leading to straining for bowel movement, strenuous coughing, pregnancy, childbirth, sitting for long time especially in the toilet and heavy lifting.
When to Choose External Haemorrhoids Surgery
External Haemorrhoids Surgery is required when the haemorrhoids become very large and they hang out of the anus region. Also, such haemorrhoids do not respond to other non-invasive treatments and usually, there is lots of bleeding. Hemorrhoidectomy is the procedure of surgically removing the haemorrhoids. External haemorrhoids surgery can be quite painful and there is a risk of infection associated with it.
Prior to external haemorrhoids surgery, many people try other natural remedies as these do not carry any side effects and may also offer other health benefits at the same time. There are some herbal treatments available to treat haemorrhoids and they shrink them. These herbs also soothe burning sensation, itching and pain associated with haemorrhoids. If your body does not respond to these natural herbal treatments, see your doctor immediately. If there is further increase in the bleeding along with bowel movements, it might be serious.
External haemorrhoids surgery is not considered an option unless the haemorrhoids become uncomfortable and large and it becomes difficult to clean the anal area. During pregnancy, experts recommend home treatments or non-surgical treatment of haemorrhoids. It is quite rare to do external haemorrhoids surgery during pregnancy but if the condition persists even after other non-surgical treatments, external haemorrhoids surgery maybe the only option.
External haemorrhoids surgery offers good long-term results as compared to other procedures. But at the same time, it is expensive procedure and quite painful as well. The recovery time is also longer and some complications may arise because of the infection.
Laser Haemorrhoid Surgery
Laser can treat many diseases including haemorrhoids. Basically, laser is used to destroy tissues with the beam and can also act as a cutting tool. Laser is a fine surgical tool to treat haemorrhoids but there are not many advantages of using it over other methods.
If the haemorrhoids are not treated on time, you continue to suffer the pain, discomfort and bleeding. If the bleeding is acute, it may lead to anemia and you will also fine it difficult to clean the anal area because of the increased pain.
External haemorrhoids surgery is a fixative procedure but you still need to make some lifestyles changes such as regular exercise, consuming more fibre, making fruits and vegetables part of your daily life and drink enough fluids.
